Reviewers are central to the quality of the Indonesian Actuarial Journal. This page sets out what the journal expects of those who accept an invitation to review.

Before accepting

Declare any conflict of interest, and decline where it cannot be managed — for example where you work at the same institution as an author, have collaborated with an author within the last three years, or have a competing manuscript on the same topic. Accept only if you can complete the review within thirty days.

Confidentiality

Treat the manuscript as a confidential document. Do not share it, cite it, or use its content before publication, and do not involve a colleague in the review without the Editor's prior agreement.

Artificial intelligence

The use of artificial intelligence in the review process is not permitted. Do not upload the manuscript or any part of it into an artificial intelligence application, and do not use such tools to analyse the manuscript, to assess it, or to draft your comments. You will be asked to confirm this when you open the review form.

Conducting the review

Complete the review inside the journal's Open Journal Systems platform using the IAJ Reviewer Assessment Form. The form asks you to assess the title, abstract, keywords, originality and gap analysis, analysis and synthesis, conclusions, the references, and the fit with the scope of the journal, and it asks for substantive comments on the content of the manuscript. Comments confined to grammar or layout do not meet the standard of this journal.

Making a recommendation

State clearly whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected, and give reasons the authors can act upon. Any concern about plagiarism, data integrity, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or the undisclosed use of artificial intelligence should be raised in the confidential comments to the editor.

Each manuscript is assessed by at least three reviewers. Reviewer names are listed only in the journal's master list of reviewers and are never published in an individual issue, so that the blind review principle is preserved.
