Peer Review Process. The decision to publish a paper in the Indonesian Actuarial Journal (IAJ) is based on an editorial screening followed by a peer review process. The primary purpose is to ensure that all submissions meet the journal’s standards of quality, originality, and relevance to actuarial science. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements will be returned to the author without further review.
Submission Files. Authors are required to submit two files: (1) a main document, which contains the complete manuscript including author names, affiliations, and acknowledgments; and (2) a blinded version of the manuscript, in which all author-identifying details are removed to ensure a proper double-blind peer review process.
Initial Editorial Assessment. Every submission undergoes an initial editorial assessment within 2-3 weeks. The editor evaluates whether the manuscript fits the scope of the journal, complies with the Author Guidelines, is written in proper academic English, and meets ethical standards. Manuscripts may be returned to the author for technical corrections or rejected at this stage if they fail to meet minimum requirements.
Review Process. Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are assigned to two independent reviewers selected based on their expertise in related fields. Reviewers receive only the blinded manuscript to maintain a strict double-blind process where both reviewers and authors remain anonymous. Each reviewer is expected to complete their evaluations within 4-6 weeks and submit feedback through the Reviewer Report. The assessment covers originality, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, and relevance to actuarial practice.
Decision-Making Process. The editor considers the reviewers’ recommendations and makes one of three decisions: accept, revise (minor/major), or reject. If there is significant disagreement between reviewers, the editor may consult a third reviewer. Authors are expected to revise their manuscripts and submit a Response to Reviewers document addressing each comment before resubmission.
Finalization. Once a manuscript is accepted, it proceeds to the proofreading stage. Authors are then required to complete a Statement of Manuscript Authenticity with their personal details (full name, affiliation, and other required information). After verification, authors receive a Letter of Acceptance (LoA). The final version of the manuscript is then prepared and scheduled for publication.
