Aims and Scope

The Indonesian Actuarial Journal (IAJ) covers actuarial science in both its theoretical and applied forms. A paper may draw on probability theory, statistics, operations research, numerical analysis, data science, mathematical economics, or any other branch of applied mathematics, so long as it bears directly on actuarial practice. The journal serves actuaries in practice and in research across Indonesia and the surrounding region.

Publication Frequency

The Indonesian Actuarial Journal (IAJ) is published by the Society of Actuaries of Indonesia (Persatuan Aktuaris Indonesia) and has been in publication since 2025. The journal is published twice a year in July and December.

Article Types

IAJ publishes original research, review articles, and empirical studies. Submissions must be original work, not under consideration elsewhere and not previously published.

Peer Review Process

Every article is peer reviewed: screened first by an editor, then sent to independent referees under anonymous review.

Authorship Criteria

The Indonesian Actuarial Journal follows the authorship criteria recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, adapted to the practice of the actuarial and mathematical sciences.

A person is entitled to be listed as an author only if all four of the following conditions are met:

substantial contribution to the conception or design of the work, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of the data;
drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content;
final approval of the version to be published; and
agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, including the accuracy and integrity of any part of it.

Contributors who do not meet all four conditions must not be listed as authors. Their contribution should instead be recognised in the Acknowledgments section, with their consent. This includes those who provided funding, general supervision, technical assistance, language editing, or access to data alone.

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal, for confirming that every listed author has approved the submitted version, and for ensuring that the Author Contribution Statement accurately reflects what each author did.

Any change to the list of authors after submission, whether an addition, a removal, or a change of order, must be requested in writing by the corresponding author, must state the reason for the change, and must be accompanied by the written agreement of every author concerned, including the one being added or removed. The journal does not permit the addition of authors after a manuscript has been accepted where no clear reason is given.

The journal does not accept guest authorship, gift authorship, or ghost authorship. Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors, because they cannot take responsibility for the work.
