Aims and Scope

The Indonesian Actuarial Journal (IAJ) covers actuarial science in both its theoretical and applied forms. A paper may draw on probability theory, statistics, operations research, numerical analysis, data science, mathematical economics, or any other branch of applied mathematics, so long as it bears directly on actuarial practice. The journal serves actuaries in practice and in research across Indonesia and the surrounding region.

Publication Frequency

The Indonesian Actuarial Journal (IAJ) is published by the Society of Actuaries of Indonesia (Persatuan Aktuaris Indonesia) and has been in publication since 2025. The journal is published twice a year in July and December.

Article Types

IAJ publishes original research, review articles, and empirical studies. Submissions must be original work, not under consideration elsewhere and not previously published.

Peer Review Process

Every article is peer reviewed: screened first by an editor, then sent to independent referees under anonymous review.

Artificial Intelligence Policy

The Indonesian Actuarial Journal recognises that artificial intelligence tools are now widely used in research and writing. This policy sets out what is permitted, what must be disclosed, and what is prohibited, for each of the three parties in the publication process.

Authors

Authors may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with language, formatting, or the preparation of code, provided the use is disclosed. Every manuscript must carry an Artificial Intelligence Statement declaring whether such tools were used and, if so, which tools and for what purpose. Artificial intelligence cannot be listed as an author or co-author, because it cannot take responsibility for the work or declare a conflict of interest. Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, the accuracy, and the integrity of everything in the manuscript, including any text, analysis, or references produced with the assistance of such tools. The fabrication of data or of references by an artificial intelligence tool is treated as research misconduct.

Editorial Team

Editors may use artificial intelligence tools only for administrative support, such as language checking of their own correspondence. Editors must not use such tools to replace scientific judgement or editorial decision-making, and must not upload an unpublished manuscript, or any part of it, into an artificial intelligence application, because doing so would breach the confidentiality owed to the authors. Any use of such tools in the handling of a manuscript must be disclosed to the Editor in Chief.

Reviewers

Reviewers are prohibited from using artificial intelligence in the peer review process. The prohibition covers the use of such tools to analyse a manuscript, to assess or score it, and to draft or refine review comments, as well as the uploading of a manuscript or any part of it into an artificial intelligence application. Reviewers confirm their compliance with this prohibition when accepting each assignment.

The journal may ask an author, an editor, or a reviewer for further information about the use of artificial intelligence at any stage, and may decline or retract a manuscript where an undisclosed use is found to have affected the integrity of the work.
